The World Environmental Day, celebrated annually on June 5th since 1973 is the largest worldwide movement encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. This year’s theme will focus on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience; calling for a stronger global action to address the triple planetary crisis.
Climate Change
The world is in a climate emergency with warming expected to increase to 2.9°C this century unless greenhouse gases fall exceedingly, as reported by the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP). A rise in global temperature will create more droughts and many of our planet's ecosystems will be at risk of irrevocable imbalances. From the melting of ice sheets to the Amazon rainforest drying out, eventually resulting in the planet becoming uninhabitable.
Crisis of Nature & Biodiversity Loss
According to UNEP, three quarters of land and two third of oceans are now impacted by humans and many of nature’s contributions to people are now eroding. Factors such as urbanisation, pollution and overexploitation contribute to this crisis and the only option to ensure a sustainable future for our world is through conservation and restoration of nature.
Crisis of Pollution
& Waste
By 2025, the world’s cities are expected to produce 2.2 billion tonnes of waste every year, more than 3 times the amount produced in 2009, according to UNEP. Although chemicals and waste are part of our everyday life, improper waste management leading to pollution causes human health problems and environmental degradation.
There is real hope if the world comes together, and it begins with us! As individuals and small businesses, we can start by supporting products and services created to build a more sustainable world.
Our ENVPLAS® Board was designed for durability, sustainability and recyclability by adopting the principles of circular economy. The boards are made from recycled PVC material and can be fully recycled via our waste buy-back program. Conventional timber board materials such as plywood, are vastly used in the construction and furniture industries not only have a shorter usage life (resulting in more waste) but pose a threat to deforestation due to rising demand. ENVPLAS® Board can be the sustainable solution to this problem.
We at ENV are committed to the principles of environmental excellence and sustainable development as we believe a simple step forward means a lot to our environment. Every piece of ENVPLAS® Board is made up from more than 70% recycled PVC material and can be fully recycled.
