World Environment Day 2025:
Ending Plastic Pollution for a Sustainable Future
This World Environment Day, the global community unites around a shared goal: ending plastic pollution. The 2025 theme supports the UN Environment Programme’s #BeatPlasticPollution campaign, encouraging individuals, industries, and governments to embrace sustainable practices and systemic change.
Why Plastic Pollution Matters
Plastic waste has reached every corner of the planet—from oceans and rivers to the food we eat and the air we breathe. Each year, 19–23 million tonnes of plastic enter aquatic ecosystems, harming wildlife, human health, and environmental stability.
If left unaddressed, the impacts will be far-reaching:
• Marine ecosystems face destruction as species ingest or become entangled in plastic waste.
• Climate change is exacerbated by the fossil fuels used in plastic production and the breakdown of plastic.

Rethinking Our Relationship with Plastic
While plastic pollution poses serious challenges, eliminating plastic entirely is not the answer. As one of the most versatile materials of our time, plastic plays a vital role in modern life:

A prime example of sustainable innovation is the ENVPLAS® Board—a plywood alternative for concrete formwork and furniture. Made from 70% recycled PVC, it is fully recyclable, highly reusable, and backed by a waste buy-back program, promoting a circular economy.
